READ-RITE RAMPS VOLUME PRODUCTION OF 40 GB PER PLATTER HEADS FOR SAMSUNG

FREMONT, CA � September 5, 2001 -- Read-Rite Corporation (Nasdaq: RDRT) today announced that it has received volume orders and is ramping production of GMR heads and head stack assemblies for Samsung Electronics� Spin Point V40000 disk drives.� This 5400-RPM, 40 GB per platter product is one of the most advanced HDDs available on the market.��
