READ-RITE ANNOUNCES QUARTERLY EARNINGS RELEASE WEB CAST AND CONFERENCE CALL

 FREMONT, CA � July 15, 2002 -- Read-Rite Corporation today announced that it will release its Third Quarter 2002 financial results after the market closes on July 31st, 2002.  You are invited to join us for the conference call and web cast at 2:00 p.m. PST (5:00 p.m. EST).

  A digital recording of the conference will be made available two hours after the completion of the call.  The replay will be available to listen to through August 14, 2002.
