READ-RITE QUALIFIED AND SHIPPING GMR HEADS FOR SAMSUNG�S SPINPOINT 15.3GB PER PLATTER DRIVE PROGRAM

MILPITAS, CA - June 20, 2000 -- Read-Rite Corporation (Nasdaq: RDRT) today announced the qualification of its GMR heads for Samsung�s SpinPoint SV0761D, SV1532D and SV3064D programs. Read-Rite is currently in volume production of these heads which support Samsung�s 15.3 GB per platter programs, with shipments of the company�s GMR head gimbal assemblies and head stack assemblies commencing earlier this month.
