READ-RITE NAMES ANDREW C. HOLCOMB SR. VP AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
PROMOTES COLIN R. CAMPBELL TO GENERAL COUNSELFREMONT, CA - June 13, 2002 - Read-Rite Corporation (Nasdaq: RDRT) today announced the promotion of Andrew C. Holcomb to senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Holcomb joined Read-Rite as associate general counsel in February 1998. During his tenure he has been responsible for all legal aspects of corporate and international subsidiaries. His progression with the company has included holding the titles of general counsel, vice president/general counsel, vice president new business development and general counsel, and senior vice president of new business development and general counsel. At the end of March 2002, in addition to his other responsibilities, Holcomb was appointed acting chief financial officer. "Andy has done an excellent job in providing leadership to the Company's legal, new business development, and most recently in the interim CFO role. Based on his performance over the last few months, Andy has clearly demonstrated to the Board the aptitude, ability and know-how to perform at the CFO level," stated Alan S. Lowe, president and chief executive officer of Read-Rite.
Prior to joining Read-Rite, Holcomb spent two years as vice president and general counsel of Elonex Technologies, the U.S. subsidiary of Elonex PLC, the largest direct seller of PCs in the United Kingdom - and five years with Digital Equipment Corporation as senior litigation counsel. He also has twelve years in law firm practice with such nationally recognized firms as Kirkland & Ellis (Chicago) a nd Fish & Neave (New York).
Holcomb graduated from the University of Oregon in 1973 with a BS in Political Science and received his law degree in 1977 from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Colin R. Campbell, who joined Read-Rite as associate general counsel in February 2001, has been promoted to general counsel reporting to Holcomb. Prior to joining Read-Rite Campbell held several senior level legal positions including partner at the law firms of Ropers, Majeski, Kohn and Bentley, and at Weinberg, Campbell and Stone. Commenting on his promotion, Holcomb said, "In his short tenure at Read-Rite, Colin has contributed significantly to strengthening our legal department and building the company's intellectual property portfolio."
